Fallen Heroes Fund – Protecting What Matters Most

Cops 4 Causes is committed to caring for the families of peace officers who have been killed or disabled in the line of duty.

Unlike memorial funds, we are very fortunate to have been granted special permission as a non-profit to give funds directly to the families of fallen heroes, while offering a tax-deductible incentive to those who give to support these American heroes.

In the wake of tragic circumstances our ability to provide for the families and members of law enforcement whose futures can be jeopardized is paramount. Cops 4 Causes is committed to ensuring that families of peace officers who have been rendered disabled or who have paid the ultimate sacrifice while serving and protecting our communities receive assistance.

LASD Initiative

Cops 4 Causes in association with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD), has partnered to create a holistic program to support the families of Law Enforcement Officers killed in the line of Duty. This initiative was begun in response to Cops 4 Causes Honorary Board Chairman, Sheriff Lee Baca’s desire to assist the families of fallen heroes who suffer emotionally and financially over time as a result of an in the line of duty death. Although we pride ourselves that law enforcement is family, and as such, we are always the most generous people when a member of our family is in need, there are times when some of our families fall through the cracks. Cops 4 Causes is committed to ensuring that the sacrifice our brothers and sisters have paid is not forgotten and that our law enforcement family honors them by protecting what matters most— their families.

In addition to launching the largest grass-roots fund raising endeavor undertaken by the LASD family, Cops 4 Causes has created a support network for families of fallen officers that will focus on:

• Long-term financial planning:
  
  • After the death of a Law Enforcement Officer, Cops 4 Causes will provide a financial consultation (free of charge) to the families of our fallen brothers and sisters that will assist them in accounting and developing a long-term financial strategy for the family.
• Counseling Services:
  
  • For members of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Family, Employee Support Services offers counseling services to the family members our fallen brothers and sisters leave behind.
    
• Ongoing Support:
  
  • Our collective goal for the family is a sustainable emotional and financial recovery.

Protect What Matters Most

We encourage all law enforcement agencies and Peace Officer Associations (POA) who have lost peace officer(s) killed In the line of duty or who have been seriously injured in the line of duty to establish accounts with Cops 4 Causes. These accounts allow for both on-line and traditional methods of giving and can be established in as little as 24-hours with a request letter from the agency's Sheriff or Chief of Police.

While we encourage agencies and POA’s who utilize this service to hold a Law Enforcement/Peace Officers Association Sponsorship, we do not require sponsorship as a condition of utilization of this program.
