Inspired by LASD Sergeant Jorge Chavez
Cops 4 Causes is humbled to present our
“Heroes Match Challenge”
Cops 4 Causes was inspired by our local hero Sgt. Jorge Chavez (Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department) to initiate our Heroes Match Challenge. Jorge is currently fighting leukemia and is in need of a life-saving bone marrow transplant. He expressed enthusiasm in educating community members and fellow First Responders about the process of becoming a stem cell/marrow donor.
We have taken Jorge’s sentiments and created this program to challenge First Responder agencies nationwide, to both educate their personnel and community members, as well as host at least one “Be the Match” drive per year. As members of the First Responder community we may think that the only way to save a life is on the beat, however through the Be the Match registry, our ability to save lives can have a greater reach!
Each year 12,000 people just like Jorge search Be the Match Registry for a donor, but sadly, only about half of those in search will find the match they need to be cured of their illness. We need help spreading the word in your community about our life saving mission to find donors for every patient in need.
You could be a Hero too! We would like to cordially invite you to participate in our Heroes Match Challenge! We will be honored to provide your agency, business or organization with the tools and information to hold a successful event. You can also follow us on Facebook, and Twitter.
